I wish that I could say that I have a known fix for this issue - 2.2.0.25 appears to be a slightly older version - have you tried 2.2.0.35 here? Also, there is a known issue with Skype and PulseAudio (changing to ALSA is a pain, I know) check the thread here and especially this post.

Hi Guys, I have a ubuntu 10.04 installed on thinkpadT42, skype was running fine on it. but recently , i noticed that , if now i open the skype from Applications, Then the skype application is launched and after around 1 min it wanishes. I saw that the process is killed after 1 min.
I uninstalled the software and Reinstalled it and still the same bahaviour. Skype version i am using is:2.2.0.25
Is there any solution to this problem??

DS Erbes, do you even understand how the internet works? You think JayTag - intelligent, witty people as they may be - are the guys who coded up Skype?

Maybe you should stick with using landline telephones for now, eh?

Upgraded from 2.0.0.72 to 2.1.0.81, after upgrading from Ubuntu Jaunty to Lucid. I have to start it using a workaround for GLX/Cairo-dock (export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 && skype), and it works great. I refuse to use pulseaudio, so I am using ESD and ALSA. Audio and video are both very crisp. Thank you for continuing to improve on Skype for Linux. It is truly the only thing I have found that works consistently.
